Our Key People

BRIAN LAVERY has more than 25 years’ experience in national and regional newspapers and magazines. Brian has been news editor of two regionals – The Northern Echo and the Hull Daily Mail. He has edited two weeklies, The Humberside Weekly News and the Bridlington Star and held various positions on nationals including: The Daily Mail, Mail on Sunday, News of the World, Times Educational Supplement, The Sun, Star and Express. Between 1985–1995 he ran a national press agency in Hull. He has also edited and co–published business and leisure magazines in the early 1990s. Before going freelance again in November 2003, Brian’s last post was that of chief sub editor of The Daily Star (Scottish edition). He also worked on the Sunday Express.

JJ TATTEN is an associate editor for EIS. He edits two national trade magazines and has a wealth of experience in business media. He lectures on EIS media courses and works on editorial projects with the company, both as a writer and editor/designer. He is a former editorial executive of the highly-respected Construction News and is currently editor of Highways Magazine and a major demolition industry title.

LUCY LYON is a freelance journalist and writer with a almost a decade of experience. She has contributed to a variety of local and national papers and magazines and writes a weekly column in the Hull and East Riding Daily Mail. She has also worked for various trade magazines and wrote a number of publications for the University of Hull, including a student prospectus that was used for recruitment nationwide. She is a regular contributor to EIS publications.

NICK BARDSLEY facilitates media courses for EIS in which our staff lecture. He is the managing director of Springfield Management Training in Hull and has more than 25 years’ experience in teaching and training.

EIS also has a pool of writers and sub-editors from national titles who work on a freelance basis for the company on various projects.
